ReChai Director Inducted into the
American Academy of Nursing
The American Academy of Nursing was formed
in 1973 to serve the public and the nursing profession by
advancing health policy and practice through nursing knowledge.
The Academy’s members – known as fellows – are
nursing’s most accomplished leaders in education, management,
practice and research. They are recognized for their extraordinary
nursing careers and are among the nation's most highly-educated
citizens.
This month, professor Rebecca Johnson, who holds a joint
appointment with the College of Veterinary Medicine and the
Sinclair School of Nursing at the University of Missouri-Columbia,
and who is the director of the Research Center on Human-Animal
Interaction (ReCHAI), was inducted into the Academy. Dr.
Johnson is also the Millsap Professor of Gerontological Nursing
and Public Policy. Her interdisciplinary research is receiving
international recognition, focusing on the health benefits
of human-animal interaction.
