
Shawn Bender, PhD, an assistant professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine Department of Biomedical Sciences, was recently elected as a Fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA) by the AHA Council on Basic Cardiovascular Sciences in recognition of scientific and professional accomplishments, volunteer leadership, and service to AHA. Fellowship is open to physicians, scientists, nurses and other healthcare professionals with a major and productive interest in cardiovascular diseases and stroke. The American Heart Association (AHA) established the Council on Basic Cardiovascular Sciences in 1999 with a mission to promote basic science research and education.
