University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine uses the Veterinary Educational Assessment (VEA) to determine baseline data on retention of the pre-clinical curriculum information. These scores can be good predictors of NAVLE performance. Each student is provided their individual results so they can plan and prepare for clinics and the NAVLE.
All VM3 students are mandatorily required to complete the VEA exam prior to starting their clinical rotations. This exam is normally given on Thursday and Friday in September with students selecting their preferred testing date. Total allotted time for the VEA is ~5.5 hours, but many students will complete the 240-question assessment in considerably less time.
Administratively approved academic year 2012-13 (Associate Dean Berent); posted April 2025.
