The responsibilities of Research Committee are as follows:

1. Advise the Dean on research needs of the CVM.
2. Address concerns and problems related to research at the CVM
3. Distribute research funds that are awarded at the college level.

The committee is divided into three programs: Faculty Research, Clinician Scientist and Livestock Animal Health. The Faculty Research program is to support CVM faculty initiatives in establishing independent research programs that will be sustained by extramural resources. The Clinician Scientist program is to support exceptional research that pertains to animal health and well-being, particularly companion animals, and to promote the research and career development of CVM faculty. The Livestock Animal Health program is to support CVM faculty initiatives in establishing research programs for future applications for extramural support.

Committee makeup: The Faculty Research program will be made up of 10 full-time faculty members from the Departments of Biomedical Sciences (3), Veterinary Medicine & Surgery (3), and Veterinary Pathobiology (3). And the VMDL (1). The Associate Dean for Research will serve as an ex officio member and Chair. The Clinician Scientist program will be made up of four full-time faculty members from the Department of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery. The Associate Dean for Research will serve as an ex officio member and Chair. The Livestock Animal Health program will consist of four full-time faculty members with expertise in livestock health. The Associate Dean for Research will serve as an ex officio member

Meetings and Minutes: The committee typically meets once a year. Minutes of the meeting will be submitted to the Office of Research.
