The Canine Genetics Laboratory relies on the generous support of dog-lovers to advance our research into the molecular genetic basis of inherited disorders in dogs. With the help of your support, we have been able to identify mutations that underlie more than 60 health conditions including neurological, ophthalmological and connective tissue disease that affect numerous dog breeds. These discoveries enable breeders to screen dogs prior to breeding, enabling them to avoid producing affected puppies. Testing for these mutations also aids in disease diagnoses.
