Alexis Carpenter, DVM, MPH, DACVP and Elizabeth Browder, DVM, of the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory were recently recognized at the American College of Veterinary Pathology/American College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology Annual Meeting in New Orleans.
Carpenter, an assistant clinical professor of anatomic pathology, received the Davis-Thompson Foundation Pathology Trainee and Scholarship Award, which honors excellence in veterinary pathology education and research. She earned the award for her work as a resident at the VMDL.
During her residency, Carpenter excelled in diagnostic responsibilities across multiple species while also contributing to student education, advancing the field through research and authoring or co-authoring several peer-reviewed publications.
Elizabeth Browder, DVM, a second-year clinical pathology resident, was named second place for the ACVP Young Investigator Award for her poster “Cytologic Diagnosis of Two Feline Colonic Duplication Cysts.”
The Young Investigator Award recognizes exceptional poster presentations by residents and graduate students that contribute new knowledge to the field of veterinary clinical pathology.
“We are proud to see our residents and faculty recognized on a national stage,” said Angela Royal, DVM, MS, DACVP, a clinical associate professor and the section head of Mizzou’s clinical pathology. “Their research, presentations and dedication to education highlight the expertise and impact of the Mizzou VMDL.”
