Two University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine Comparative Medicine residents recently earned national recognition for their research at the American Association for Laboratory Animal Sciences (AALAS) National Meeting in Long Beach, California.
Elizabeth Fiechter, DVM, earned the first place poster award in the laboratory investigations category. Her poster showcased innovative work that contributes to advancing laboratory animal science and improving scientific discovery.
Samantha Norris, DVM, was awarded second place for platform presentations in the resident – laboratory investigations II session. Her talk, titled “Overcoming an Early-Life Lethal Phenotype to Develop a Distinct Mouse Model for Baker-Gordon Syndrome Using CRISPR-Cas9 Gene Editing,” showcased the development of a novel model that opens new avenues for understanding this rare genetic disorder.
