Representing the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine at the Missouri State Fair is a special opportunity to connect with Missourians and spark interest in the veterinary profession. Read on for a Q&A with McIntosh about her Mizzou CVM experience.

What is it like to represent CVM at the Missouri State Fair?

As a CVM student ambassador, I have the privilege of guiding prospective veterinary students through the admissions process and offering insight and advice as they take steps toward their own futures in veterinary medicine.

That same spirit of outreach and enthusiasm carries over to my role at the Missouri State Fair. This is my third time representing the CVM at the fair, and it’s been a true joy to connect with the community there — sharing stories, building connections and showcasing the positive impact of Mizzou.

Outside of my ambassador role at the fair, I enjoy getting a fried Oreo while watching the pig races, draft horses or stopping by to see the butter cow. I also love showing off my newfound skill of crafting balloon animals with Dr. Tim Evans on the weekends.

What made you want to pursue veterinary medicine?

I chose to pursue veterinary medicine to offer compassionate care, medical expertise and a better quality of life to those who cannot speak for themselves. My goal is to build trust and foster meaningful, lasting relationships with both my patients and their owners.

Why did you choose Mizzou?

I chose Mizzou because it is my home-state university, and I plan to establish my career in Missouri after graduation. The CVM stands out for its initiative and commitment to building confident, practice-ready veterinarians through early, hands-on clinical experience.

What type of veterinary medicine would you like to pursue?

I would like to begin gaining a strong foundation of knowledge through small animal general practice incorporating in emergencies and exotics. I also have an interest in specializing in either small animal soft tissue surgery or critical care because I have a proclivity to dive deeper into complex and intensive cases.
