Etiology: Paraspidodura uncinata is a cecal helminth (roundworm).
Incidence: The incidence of Paraspidodura uncinata infection is uncommon in the United States.
Transmission: Transmission occurs by consumption of embryonated eggs.
Distribution: Worms reside in the cecum and colon.
Clinical Signs: No clinical disease is associated with infection.
Diagnosis: Fecal float can be performed for diagnosis.
Diagnositic morphology:
Adult males: 11-22 mm long
Adult females: 16-28 mm long
Ova: 50 by 40 µm and thick-shelled
