Student Handbook – SAVMA – Events Sponsored

Dog Jog

  • The annual Dog Jog consists of a 5K run and 2.5K walk in which participants can bring their furry friends for a fun time and great cause! Proceeds from the event will benefit the Hope Shelter Fund, which provides specialty medical care for sick animals requiring medical treatment or surgery at the MU Veterinary Health Center when their owners otherwise cannot afford treatment. Funds are also used to support the Veterinary Research Scholars Program. Two new student representatives are elected by their class each year to join the planning committee for the event.

Fur Ball

  • This formal dance is held each year to help raise funds for the Hope Shelter Fund. The vice president of the Student Chapter appoints a coordinator and committee for this event.

Toaster

  • A fun send-off to clinics, the Student Chapter hosts a celebration for VM3 students who have completed their didactic classes. This event is often held the Friday prior to the White Coat Ceremony and is planned by the vice president of the Student Chapter.
