ADA Accommodations Policy

Accommodation exam guidelines
  1. Notification of accommodations
It is your responsibility to inform both the instructor and the exam coordinator of your registered accommodations. If you plan to use accommodations, you must notify both parties at least seven business days before any scheduled exam. If you intend to use accommodations for the entire instructional period, you must clearly communicate that intention upfront.
  2. Exam timing and expectations
Exam times are scheduled to reflect the conditions approved by the Disability Center (DC). You must begin your exam at the assigned time and location and finish by the designated end time. To avoid conflicts with class schedules, early morning start times may be required.
    • Late arrivals are not allowed.
    • No study time is permitted within the scheduled exam window. You must begin promptly at the scheduled start time.
  3. Email communication
Email is the official method of communication regarding exams and accommodations. You are responsible for checking your email regularly. Not reading your email is not an acceptable excuse for missing instructions or updates.
  4. Use of testing rooms only
If you choose to test at the regular class time and only use a testing room as an accommodation, extended time will not be granted unless the exam coordinator schedules additional time before or after the standard exam period.
  5. No delays or postponements
Exams will not be delayed or rescheduled for individual students, except in cases of legitimate hardship and only when the same option is available to the entire class.
  6. Noise control
Ear plugs are available for all exams and strongly recommended to help minimize distractions. The combination of private testing rooms and ear plugs meets Disability Center noise-control accommodations.
  7. Leaving the exam room
If you need to leave the exam room during the test, you must notify the exam coordinator by phone immediately to document the reason.
  8. Reporting issues
Any issues or distractions during the exam must be reported immediately so they can be addressed. Reporting problems after the exam ends is not acceptable.

These guidelines are in place to ensure you receive your approved accommodations without gaining an unfair advantage, such as additional study time, a delayed start or rescheduled testing. Exams will be scheduled in advance whenever possible.

This policy is considered a reasonable accommodation under college and Disability Center standards.
