Corona-like virus

Etiology:  Corona-like virus is a virus which is morphologically similar to coronavirus with diarrhea.

Incidence:  The incidence of Corona-like virus is rare.

Transmission:  Transmission occurs via the fecal-oral route.

Clinical Signs:  Clinical signs include wasting, anorexia and diarrhea.  There is low morbidity and mortality.

Pathology:  Grossly, there is acute to subacute necrotizing enteritis of ileum.  The small intestine contains large amounts of mucoid material.  Histologically, blunting and fusion of villi with sloughing of villous enterocytes and enterocyte syncytia formation is observed.

Diagnosis:   Diagnosis can be made by histopathologic exam of intestinal sections.
