Noncredit certificate in veterinary emergency and critical care now available

Published 1/3/2025

The University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine has partnered with MU Extension’s Career Accelerator to offer a new noncredit certificate in veterinary emergency and critical care. The program offers participants the chance to delve into the field of small animal emergency and critical care, as well as toxicology, through the completion of two online, asynchronous courses — one in the fall semester and another in the spring semester.

Individuals pursuing the noncredit certificate enroll through MU Extension and do not apply for admissions to MU. However, one of the unique aspects of this program is its flexibility. After successful completion of the noncredit certificate, should participants find that furthering their education aligns with their goals, they have the option to convert the noncredit certificate into academic credit toward a Bachelor of Science in veterinary technology degree. Continuing education units are also available for each course completed.

Spring course registration closes Jan. 16.

Financial assistance options are available, including MU employee tuition assistance and the Fast Track Workforce Incentive Grant. Visit the certificate program page for more information or email Sarah Rielley at careeraccelerator@missouri.edu.
