Online BIOMED Courses

Courses are available that can potentially aid the acquisition of needed knowledge and skills to qualify to become a VTS while receiving college credits and professional CE credits. - Certificate in Veterinary Sciences or Biomedical Sciences
Certificates are possible in veterinary sciences or biomedical sciences which may be valuable in applying for new jobs or when seeking promotions. The courses taken can be a stepping stone to achieving a bachelor’s degree. For more information on certificates, go to Certificates. - Degree Paths
As a licensed veterinary technician and a graduate of an accredited two-year program, you may want to continue your studies and earn a baccalaureate degree. A baccalaureate degree is a requirement, or common expectation, if you plan to pursue a career in education, government, research, hospital management, or the animal health industry. According to the U.S. Department of Education, bachelor degree graduates have a 30 percent greater average lifetime earnings than associate degree graduates. These BIOMED courses can be used as part of your course of study in Mizzou’s online Bachelor of General Studies or Bachelor of Health Sciences.

Academic Rigor
Online BIOMED course rigor is equivalent to that of traditional room-bound classes. It is estimated that online and study time for a 3-credit-hour on-line course taken over a semester will require 6 to 9 clock hours per week. Exams are proctored online. All BIOMED courses are approved by MU Quality Matters criteria for online courses or in the process of MU Quality Matters evaluation.
Course Suitability
Students should consult with their academic advisor on the suitability of online elective courses relative to their undergraduate degree requirements.
Tuition and Fees
Student fees are comparable to, or less than, most other public AAU research institutions with an international reputation. Online courses can reduce total educational costs by reducing travel costs and travel time lost, providing greater flexibility with job schedules, and avoiding the need for relocation. Missouri residents who are graduates of Missouri, public, regionally accredited Community Colleges may be awarded a scholarship. It is 10% percent tuition award that reduces base tuition only. - Mizzou Online Military Tuition Award

Frequently Asked Questions
Q – Can I transfer my vet tech courses to MU toward a bachelors degree program?
A – Yes, if you attended a regionally accredited college, some courses can usually be transferred. NOTE: Not all AVMA-accredited veterinary technology programs are regionally accredited. Courses will not transfer toward a bachelor’s degree program if AVMA-accredited but not regionally accredited. Information on Transfer credit.
Q – Do I have to schedule specific days or time of day to take online courses?
A – Courses are offered in the same periods as on-campus courses. Veterinary Online Programs online work can be done 24 hours a day as best meets your schedule. Course work is segmented into weekly sessions.

Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology
